About

Do you struggle to read menus in dimly lit restaurants? Do you find it increasingly hard to read words on packaging? Do you get headaches after being on the computer? Is scrolling on your phone getting tricky?

When I turned 40, I started to have issues with reading the small print.

I learned that as you get (gracefully!) older, your eyesight starts to degrade, and you need a little help to read smaller text or to read for long periods of time.

This is usually due to “presbyopia” which means “aging eye”. It's a natural part of aging where your eyes’ lenses lose some flexibility over time.  Otherwise, you might need reading glasses as a result of your use of technology. Digital devices emit harmful blue light which can weaken your eye muscles.

Don’t worry, needing reading glasses for a bit of help is totally normal and nothing to worry about. Reading glasses are designed to help you see more clearly up close. Just make sure you get the right lens strength for you.

If you find yourself squinting, holding things further away to read them, or getting headaches when you read, then it’s probably time to get yourself a pair of reading glasses!

But how hard could it be to find a cool pair of readers? It turned out for me to be super hard.

  • Chemist reading glasses: super daggy. That spinning display of glasses is just so sad!
  • Bookshop specs: don’t get me started...
  • Optician glasses: a lengthy eye test with an appointment followed by a long wait for lenses to be fit into expensive frames... and then when the glasses are finally ready, they are just too strong and not quite right.
  • Online: loads of cute reading glasses out there, but they are either terrifyingly cheap and weird, or so very expensive!

So here at ministry of sight we are super excited to present our collection of cool, comfy and reasonably priced reading glasses.

  • Sharp & clear: no more squinting! Our lenses are crystal-clear and scratch-resistant, so you can read with zero distortion and reduce eye strain.
  • Anti-glare: lenses are treated to minimize glare and block blue light from your screen as standard in every pair.
  • No more granny glasses: rock a look that says “I’m cool AND I can see the fine print” with frames hat won’t make you look like you’re auditioning for a role in a 90s sitcom, From sleek and modern to vintage inspired frames,  classic to contemporary, there’s a pair to suit everyone.
  • Custom fit: choose your magnification strength and enjoy a comfy fit that will make you forget you’re wearing glasses at all, until everyone compliments you on your frames!
  • Comfortable Fit: designed for all day wear to make reading marathons a breeze.
  • Built to last: these glasses are ready to handle the long haul. Durable enough to handle being dropped, sat on and other mean ways to treat your frames.

Do you need a prescription for reading glasses? No, you don’t. However, if readers don’t seem to help you, make sure you check in with your eye-care professional.
